About me

I moved to the U.K from France in 1998 after getting a Master in international trade and business. I am originally from Morocco born in France and speak Arabic & French fluently.

My first job was in the hospitality industry where I worked close to clients from all over the world. During that time, I developed an interest in languages and in learning about different cultures.

Following this, I opened a French coffee shop where I shared talks with clients around Moroccan and French cultures. I, then, started interpreting for charities as an ad hoc interpreter in both languages: French and Moroccan.

The next step was to become a certified interpreter in French to serve public services and my community, that is when I started finding ways of obtaining the right qualifications. I attended a course in Community Interpreting Level 3; which is a diploma that allowed me to help limited English speaker in settings within the NHS, schools and social services.

After few 5 years of community interpreting I sat the DPSI ( diploma for Public Service Interpreting) in the law path: This is a requirement to be able to help with interpreting in legal settings such as courts and tribunals. I have now been interpreting in this setting for 20 years.

The two qualifications have allowed me to help in public service interpreting covering a range of settings such as probation, family court, crown court and mental health.

I also had the privilege, in 2020 to act as an interpreter for the Welsh government, more precisely for the International relations for Trade department; this was during the two-day visit of a French delegation to Wales on the occasion of Celtic music celebration.

My background in hospitality and my experience as a coffee shop owner have both helped me to listen and be attentive to my clients’ requirements. All interpreting jobs that I carry out, are talked through beforehand so that I can fully understand what the requirements are, and deliver a top service.

Please get in touch, I will be happy to chat to you.
